Marisa Woodley
Articling Student
Marisa is a dedicated advocate with a strong passion for social justice and criminal law. She graduated from York University with an Honours BA in Psychology, where she also excelled in Gender and Women Studies, earning a commendation from the department. Her academic journey involved highlighting the systemic discrimination within our criminal justice system, inspiring her to make a difference.
Marisa pursued her legal education at Osgoode Hall Law School, focusing almost exclusively on criminal law. She was selected for the prestigious Criminal Intensive Program, where she gained invaluable experience shadowing judges and conducting research at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton. This experience deepened her understanding of the justice system and its shortcomings, fueling her commitment to bridging the gap between the system and the communities it serves.
Her passion for advocacy is evident from her participation in Peel Region’s Annual Mock Trial Competition during high school, to her involvement in numerous Moots at Osgoode. Marisa also volunteered with LAWS during her time at Osgoode, mentoring high school students in mock trial sessions and teaching them various courtroom skills.
Marisa is excited for her new role as an Articling Student at Collett Read LLP, eager and ready to apply her knowledge and dedication to her legal career.
