Jazzmine Gabert

Articling Student

Jazzmine Gabert is an Articling Student at Collett Read LLP. She earned her Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School, where she developed a strong interest in criminal law, constitutional litigation, and access to justice.

Jazzmine’s interest in criminal justice and human rights began through her work as a Communications Intern at the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights, where she supported advocacy efforts to protect human rights and secure the release of political prisoners held by authoritarian regimes. She continued to pursue these interests in law school, as a Legislative Intern in the Office of Senator Kim Pate, where she contributed to legislative research and policy initiatives on human rights and criminal justice.

Throughout law school, Jazzmine gained extensive advocacy, research, and litigation experience. She was awarded the Ian Scott Public Interest Scholarship to complete a placement with the Criminal Justice Program at the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, where she worked on constitutional litigation, appellate matters, and criminal justice issues. As part of Osgoode’s Immigration and Refugee Law Intensive Program, she completed a placement at the Federal Court, developing experience in complex legal research and written advocacy. In recognition of her commitment to access to justice, Jazzmine was awarded the Andrew M. Lawson ’55 Award.

Jazzmine is passionate about legal education and believes that understanding the law is an essential part of meaningful access to justice. Through her work with the Ontario Justice Education Network (OJEN), she has developed and delivered legal education programming aimed at making the justice system more accessible and engaging for students and members of the public. She remains committed to lifelong learning and continuously developing her legal skills through advocacy, mentorship, and engagement with the broader legal community.

At Collett Read LLP, Jazzmine is building her practice in criminal defence with a focus on careful preparation, strong advocacy, and protecting the rights of accused persons.
